How to pick Pin tumbler lock with pin on the sidde.

Postby SsBloodY » 16 Dec 2008 4:00

You must have seen this type of lock its again pun tumbler but the pins are not on the bottom or top they are on the left or right. And the key isn't normal saw-toothed it has holes on the side and thats how pins make it to the shear line. Its the same way of picking but there is no space for action. You cant even get your diamond tool in. Or if you use another tool its just raking there is no space to feel the pins and so on. can you tell me how do you pick them and what tool do you use.

Sounds like you have a dimple lock that has pins stacks at various angles in the lock, something like a Sargent-Keso or a Kaba.

I would recommend not picking it until you can identify it because you can damage the lock once picked by moving pins/springs into the plug. Do you have a picture of the lock?

On re-reading your post, you might just have a normal dimple lock.

All apologies, I drink. Heavily.

I don't have pic. I have saw it on friend's doors some other I have the habit to watch/observe(with look) the locks a see and when I saw that i thought how the hell to pick this I cant get my diamond tools inside to work with it...

Its not waffler or something else because I see the pins inside.

Maybe something like this but with one row on the key.

Yes, that is called a dimple lock. It is just a pin tumbler with the keyway perpendicular to the pins.
