What does my new L&F master unlock?

Postby Aractus » 19 Dec 2008 6:15

I've been collecting simple master keys for (mostly) 4/5-pin simple wafer locks used in very low security cabinet locking... Yesterday I found two more L&F masters - one was cut on Silca LF7 who's profile looks exactly opposite to the 92-series L&F (the ones with blank Silca LF31R, which are numbered 1-200 - or more specifically 60001-60200 or 60201-60400). The other was a blank master for L&F 92 series, so I cut it using the one that was already cut as a guide; and then filed the hell out of both sides of the key so it would fit in whatever the series is numbered 401-600 (same key cut as 92 series on different blank). It works beautifully. But I'm wondering - what is the master I found on Silca LF7 for? what type of L&F lock/key does it open (what does the key/key profile look like, and how is the series numbered)? The grooves are so crisp it doesn't look like it's been used much (probably because some boss owned it as his master for the cabinets his staff used, and he didn't use it much).

Lowe & Fletcher. The new "master" I found on Silca LF7 looks like a non-series-92-normal-key (non-master) this except in reverse. It's odd, I can't even see any info about it on sites which have extensive lists of their Silca blanks. This is the master blank for 92-series L&F (Silca LF8) but there's no mention of Silca LF7 at all there! BTW for the record, I only test my keys on locks (or barrels) in my possession (which are typically not in use).
