Master Number 5

Postby Snosnipe » 21 Dec 2008 14:00

I have a master number 5. i started picking a little less than a year ago, and i started with this lock. I picked it- not raked it on my first try... I have heard people saying stuff about how easy the number 3 is (I have one of those too- also easy to pick), but i find my masterlock #5 to be much easier to pick... does anybody know why mine if so easy? It is about 10 years old.

The cylinder inside the lock body is the same. Just look at the keys. The one you find easier probably has a biting with less variation in the hieght of the cut depths.

i believe (not completely sure though) that the only differance between 3s and 5s is the shackle length. feel free to correct me if i am wrong.

The Master #5 I have has both a thicker shackle and body than the #3, but ToolyMcgee is right that both locks have the same Master W1 cylinder.
