X-mas present with key's and battery backup locked inside

Please can someone help, I was looking at a present i've bought for my father and my daughter came along and locked everything inside including my mobile phone,

I have tried to make a battery to no avail, my only hope is to pick the U-lock type on the front.

Is there any way this can be done?

Do the numbers on the sticker beside the lock apply to the lock combination.

I assume you may need proof I have bought this safe , i will try to give proof if needed.

Is the safe the present? or is the present in the box?

put light turning pressure on that knob that looks like a stove burner control, Then smack the safe sharply on the top while turning clockwise, you can use the palm of your hand or a rubber mallet, though the rubber mallet may dent the sheet metal unless used right over the edge where the 90 degree bend strengthens the sheet metal.

Hey, it works on several different light metal boxes like this one on youtube, and there was that video where they cut back out of the box and filmed it being done with a rubber mallet, though one guy just used the palm of his hand.

another thought, with the numbers on the face of the safe, and your reciept from the store that sold it, you could call the company that made it and as for customer service.

I've tried to make a metal grip to hold the barrell as i try to pick it but the grip is letting me down..

I don't undertand; you say i should just smack it whilst turning the knob...what is that going to do?...

These have a vertically mounted solenoid that takes care of locking the safe. If you put it on a firm surface and smack it as Rai said, the spring loaded solenoid will bounce out of the locking groove allowing a split second "shear line" similar to bumping a standard lock.

If all else fails, remove the face plate off of the safe as some of these safes have the combination printed on a sticker attached to the circuit board as long as it hasn't been changed from the factory combination. If there is no sticker, you can use a dmm to locate the wires that activate the solenoid and use a 9v battery and some wire leads to bypass the combination lock all together. If however the tubular lock is a secondary locking system then it will need to be picked also.

The easiest way is to bounce the safe as Rai mentioned or get lucky and the combo is listed under the keypad cover on the circuit board. Last ditch effort is to call the company who made the safe with the info listed on the sticker pasted on the front of the safe and maybe in the Christmas spirit they will help you out. No guarantees there as even sentry requires you to establish being a locksmith and they are now charging $10 IIRC for a combination.

Good luck. If you were close by, I would stop over and open it up for you but the chances of that are slim to none that you live close to me.

ive always wondered about these kinds of safes. it just seems to me that they arent really "secure" they just do enough to keep ppl out that dont really wanna try to get in.

what do u guys think?

Personally the least i would spend on a safe would be around $500, and I wouldn't keep too much of value in it, unless it was an inground safe which offers more protection, but if I was after a safe to keep valuables, passparts and other important documents in I would be spending atleast $1000, whats the point of getting a safe that offers as much security as a desk draw with a lock on it, you should get a safe with a good combination or digital lock as keys can be stolen or copied to gain access, and also a good fire rating.

I feel sure Raimundo's method of attack would have worked on this box. Sometimes you can drill a small hole just to look around and probe for the opening parts.

What brand was it? Can we see a photo of the inside where the solenoid is to confirm the opening method. Even if it is trashed now we can learn from your experience. Thanks.

I don't know if jaakko has seen one of these, but calling them a safe is a stretch, These are faux pseudo safes. anything that can be opened with a slap cannot be advanced. its a fraud and telling people that cannot harm them.
