Penn State / State College Lockpicking Club

Howdy all!

Just letting you know that a new club at Penn State has started up, and we've been in touch with the LI guys and have decided to become Locksport International affiliated. We're a club of about 30 people who started a local 2600 meeting, but wound up having more fun picking locks instead, and were too lazy to change the name.

Penn State 2600
Meetings every 1st Friday of the month during the school year, 5 PM in the HUB above the sushi place.

That's awesome. I am attending Penn State next year. Hope the group is still around and I think it will be a lot of fun.

Well, Penn State seems to be dragging its heels in terms of accrediting us, but one way or the other, we will be here on campus for (at the very least) the next 2 years. we've got a rather large base of very interested, very motivated students with far too much time on their hands backing this new club, and short of State College passing an ordinance banning us from the city limits, we'll be here when you get here.

Pure awesomeness. Keep up the good job. I am very happy that you guys are working as hard as you are. Let us know if you need any additional locks/picks!

Since my last post, Penn State's risk management team has given us the green light for accreditation (which means access to PSU's considerable coffers), we've gotten a few more members, and we've more than broken even on that first set of picks you helped us get.

As for the locks, they've been picked so much that they're starting to break, but thanks to the pick sales I think we have enough cash to replace them for the moment. And our collection keeps growing every week, with only one lock that no one's been able to pick yet. But I get the feeling that the two members who are researching the lock right now will figure it out pretty soon.

We're working on our own T-shirt to raise some more money, would it be OK to put LSI's logo on the back?

Just wanted to write in that I went to the first meeting for this year and had a great time. Not to mention, I ended up winning $20 by picking a lock no one could get last year. Seems like it's getting to be a pretty popular club, as there were obviously quite a few new members. Very nice to see such a large group of interested people.

Ah HAH! So YOU were the guy to open that pain-in-the-ass lock! Well played, good sir.

Depends. Some months it's only 20, some months it's between 30 and 50. I think we peaked somewhere around 65 when we went all-out for advertising.

I'm tempted to attend by even though it's a long haul. You don't mind out of the area PA'ers swinging by?
