Starting euro lock collection recommendations.

Postby cyrus104 » 25 Jan 2009 15:22

I am trying to get more people together in the VA/DC/MD area and maybe work on getting a chapter going out there in this area.

For get together I have a good amount of American locks in my collection ranging from very beginners to more advanced. I am looking at doing something very similar for European locks.

I am looking for recommendations for Euro locks. I got a couple Evva 3ks from ebay for $20 however; I am looking for easy to medium pick skill level to start. I would like 10-15 recommendations and a place to get cutaways if possible.

Thank you all.

For a medium level I would reccommend a Iseo (codes: LCE).
For an easy level , go with a CISA Pratic.
If you can get one , Litto Select 5 is also a good medium level.

for easy I would opt for VIRO as the keyway section is nice and open and you get a good feel of the last two pins

ISEO is good for medium (smaller keyway section)
but well made

from the UK I like UNION as they are a progressive pick once you know the lock and well produced.
There are a lot of ASEC used due to the cost and the keyway is a bit fiddlier but good fun!!

GEGE/GRUNDMAN and the like are worth applying yourself to

PM me if you need any examples

Don´t forget Abloy 3020, you can buy these "open" -so you can key it like you want, or "closed" with keys -no rekeying. -That is a classic in Finland and is used much on everything from porta-potty to boat and sheds.

I can provide you with cutaways of almost any lock you wish so long as it is made of brass or an equally soft material like bronze. Complexity isn't an issue, I have become quite accomplished with high security cylinders, and am mainly doing those as opposed to low security locks (I just don't have any heart in doing them because they arn't interesting to me). But whatever you have in mind, let me know and we can sort something out.

Also if you are having trouble with UK/european sellers sending items to you in the states I would be more than happy to offer a forwarding service from the UK if you desperately wanted a certain lock.
What a load of old BiLocks!!!!

I'm probably 0 for 400 in looking for safes behind wall paintings

the BS mila range are pretty good, you get 4 micro pins either side of the main ones which jump straight into the bores once turned. I only know of one place that sells them though
