You make a dimple key that is essentially a bump key (all cuts at the lowest depth), then wrap the foil around it. Put it in the lock and apply binding pressure like you would with traditional key blank impressioning. Eventually the foil will compress to the correct depths and the lock will open. If you carefully remove the key you can also potentially use it to make a real key.

I think you are talking about something different. I mean foil impressioning of the locked lock with a spesial key and a foil, like in this movie.

It is essentially the same thing, but for the standard pin tumbler design. What about the video are you not understanding?

I cut off a key, like shown in that movie and tried it, but just got a padlock with a key stuck into it. I just can't remove it from the padlock!

I hope you didn't forget the shim that is needed to push the pins back up so you can remove the key. With cuts shaped like a comb, the pins won't move up on their own when you try to remove the key. You have to use the shim to push them back up so the key can be removed.

Yes, I forgot it. Now, I can only take the lock apart by drilling the pins.

no, you can also try to remove the key this way: insert a very thin half diamond pick close to the key to lift the pins. The key could be free... I know it's hard, but it's a lot better then drilling the lock. Good luck

so you're done... Drill with care so you can save the lock by replacing the pin retainers with some bottom pins. Cheers

I won't drill it, because I don't like to drill at all. So I better save the lock for better times or I'll throw it away.

would it still work if a 99999 cut key was used instead of the comb key? Also if a 99999 key was used, would you still need the shim?

Bump key won't work. You'll need a key like in the video. When the foil is on it, it is like a blank key and bump key with a foil on it won't be like a blank.
