Does anyone know who makes these locks?

They're commonly used as security locks on commercial vans in the US, but I haven't been able to find anyone who knows anything about them.

Abloy of Finland?

Postby blisqua » 7 Jul 2004 18:51

I actually live in Manhattan. The pictures are just of a typical work van equipped with these locks. I have a van and would like to use these locks, but I haven't been able to find out who makes them. Could they be made by Abloy of Finland?

Thanks!

is that a t-shaped keyway?

could be a cruxiform (or however you spell it).

just a thought.

Inflation however, may have changed this.

The keyway is a semicircle

Postby blisqua » 7 Jul 2004 21:02

If I recall correctly, the keyway is a semicircle. I've seen literally thousands of vans in New York City with these security locks. FedEx and Airborne Express use them on their delivery vans (but not their trucks).

I agree with mick- i bet we could all identify it better if we had a shot going down the keyway instead of to the side like that.

I tend to lean towards Abloy. I think it is the pro series.

At this trainstation in adelaide there are abloy disk locks and they have a keyway that looks like a capital i ( I ) i think thats what it looks like if so Id say its an abloy, if its semi circle its propbly still an abloy...
So overall I think most people think its an abloy

Looking at the close-up, it doesn't appear to be your typical Abloy semi-circular keyway (i.e. 180 deg cutout). This thing is more like a 315 degree keyway. Maybe some of the users from the brrrrr...colder climates could elaborate.

The second image? I beg to differ, look closer at the cover plate. Maybe I'm wrong. Doesn't look to be semi-circular...
