Newbie need help with masterlock

key/combination locks (Masterlocks)

I have 2 locks that I forgot the combo to and I need to know how to get these fu#*ers open without going to masterlock.com and paying for it.

I don't want to drill the locks open.

....yes, for those people that are going to ask "Did you search?" I've searched all morning and all I get are text explaining the manipulation technique.

Depending on the age of the lock, you may be able to go down to your local locksmith and they might have a codebook so they can read you the combo from the serial number on the back of your padlock. Where I work we only charge like $2.00 or something. You need to actually have the lock with you through, you can't just come in with a serial number.

i know you said you want the combo. to the lock, but if there is a keyhole on the back, it is extremely easy to pick. i don't know your picking skills, but i can pick mine in under 5 seconds. this way you can still use the lock and put it on a box or something you need to lock up. hope this helps.

Shimming is very easy and very quick... Then, once it is open, you can work the combo out in bright light (I just take them outside) by peering into the hasp hole and aligning the notches on the wheels as if your opening the lock. Transpose (subtract) the dialed digits eleven spaces around the dial and you have the combo.

What *specifically* do you want to know:

How a locksmith would do it? He would lookup the number in his code book, offer to drill it... or toss it in the trash and point to his new padlock display.

How I'd do it? I'd shim it open and determine the combo via the hasp hole as explained earlier.

How to pick the keylock? Forget the dial and focus on lock picking of pin tumber locks. You'll need a pickset. Do you have one?

How to drill it? You don't want to drill it.

How to manipulate the combo without trying every combination? You already told us you have manipulation techniques... Are you not understanding them?

Also, i would'nt recommend shimming it, it's almost impossible to shim a master; the casing is too well machined.

I advise against Pepsi cans, the ones I made recently left small bits of aluminum inside my master combination lock... Luckily its not doing anything useful atm.
