Hi Hojo,

First welcome to the forum, I know you have been here for a little but I have not crossed paths.

I would first suggest, if you find something you wish to post about look for where it has been talked about in the past and post there. This shows you do some research yourself and also keeps the place neat. If it is too off topic for the threads you find, include links to the threads you found some useful info in. Saves us having to read up on the topic again and also lets us know you are trying to help yourself.

Now that stuff is out of the way, you can make a plug spinner out of anything that pretty much "spins". So a spring is normally a good start. If you look at pictures of the A1 plug spinner you probably will be able to work it out yourself. If you download the zip under the link below "drdave" you will be able to find pictures on how he made a plug spinner.

I would just like to add when practicing picking you pretty much never need a plug spinner. I think it is ever rare for locksmiths to need them, so if you do not have one it is not the end of the world.

Best of luck, and please post in the below threads and let us know how you go.

I made one the other night just to prove it cold be done. Simply a single piece of windshield wiper blade with a notch cut into one end and bent into the shape of a "d" with the notch on the curved part.

I took a pliers and twisted the straight piece and layed it into the notch. That gives it about a 45 degree twist and as I pulled out of the notch it spun. It worked a few times on a kik cylinder I had laying around.

I may still have it laying around, to take a picture of if so I will try and upload it somewhere. Otherwise, it is pretty self explanatory. I still prefer the rytan (compact) works great and fitsin a pick case for less than $15 ...

All you need is something that will spin the plug around fast... I made one out of a spare bit of PVC, a door closing spring, a plastic container for a 35mm roll of film, some wiper blade insert, and a screw. Look at Dr. Dave's post about it and look at the pictures in the .Zip file, this should give you the idea behind how they work. Take that Idea and appliy it however you can.. get creative.

Pardon any typos... I don't have my contacts in and my glasses are in the truck :-)
I wish the world was flat like the old days, and I could travel just by folding the map.

I just use a rubber band and a strong home-made tension wrench. Tie the rubber band to the end of the tension wrench, insert the wrench, and puill the rubber band in the direction you want the lock to turn. Pull as far as you can and then release the wrench. It'll spin around fast enough.

I challenge you to come up with a lock pick related item that cannot be made from a windshield wiper blade. Anything at all... just as long as there are windshield wiper blades in it. :)

I am beginning to worry about my car in the driveway at night...
