And, just wanted to add, I beat a Corbin Russwin tonight too!!!! Woot!!! I'm getting back into the groove! Shatter has given me something to aspire to become besides proficient at 5200s, and some pretty nice picks too!!!

Nice job. Send me a message when you are ready for your next challenge. I got a lock you have likely never seen, and I'd bet vital parts of my anatomy you will never be able to pick... :D

Good work. Even without the sidebar, Medecos are tough.

Can you give us the lowdown on how you picked it and what tools? I have a medeco that still has the side bar and I'm trying to follow JK the Cjer's advice using piano wire, but I have yet to use the wire.

Not really, it's clogged with malted hops and bong resin from a misspent youth.........

That's perfect! I wasn't planing on using it myself. It's ment to fead some zombies I have in the basement. If I feed them smart brains they might get bright ideas and escape, luckily I don't have to wory about it with all that bong resin XD

Awesome! (When you're ready to bring the pain, be sure to put the sidebar back in facing the right direction. The little "lip" goes towards the bottom of the keyway)

Did you work up to this a pin at a time, or did you just start with six and beat it? (If you started with six, I'm gonna be mad, since I haven't made it past five yet)

I have found myself that Corbin/Russwin are pretty tight locks that take a lot of patience. I feel they are a good accomplishment on their own.

Get ready to be mad, i started with 6 right off the bat and defeated it in about 15 minutes. I'm not sure about anyone else's experiences, but I found that medium to heavy tension was needed.

:x Grrr.... now I have to go home and put my sixth pin back in... I never should have told you how to take the sidebar out.

I have found I use medium tension when picking mine, but Squelchtone and others have told me this is wrong, so I suspect it's just frustration tension. (I'll leave it to the people who can actually pick it to give you the real advice though)

Tball,

Hehehe, I have two different Medeco locks to work on. Shatter and I got together over the weekend and he left me the 6 pin no sidebar that is pictured in this post picked. I have a 51S model that i'm working on with the bar in place. The reason I had asked you last night is because I was half tempted to take the sidebar out, but that wouldn't be my style. I always attack locks as they are, for me it's always been the best way to learn. When I started picking, I immediately jumped in and started picking 5200s fully pinned, didn't know any better. But this learning curve has helped me. It may or may not work for you.
