EAGLE Lock Pick Gun

Postby TheSkyer » 1 Apr 2009 4:01

I got my EAGLE lock pick gun yesterday and I can't seem to really get it to work. I tried it on some padlocks and on some cylinder locks but no success what so ever. The snapping motion seems to be ok and I tried adjusting the torque screw, I even opened it up completely but I couldn't find anything wrong with it. Any thoughts???

P.S. If I insert the pick gun into the lock it doesn't seem to move all that much, I took my cutaway and I don't see any pins moving to be honest....

I assume it is a normal pick gun not a pick gun for eagle locks.

Assuming this, it is important to make sure of a few things: A) The pick gun pick is thin enough it does not touch the sides or bottom of the keyway, that you do not touch it to the pins (best is to have it hovering almost right below the pins I believe), and yes generally they are cranked way too high, you want a firm snap but not something huge.

It takes some additional practice with a pick gun but as long as it moves inside with some tries it should work.

There should be a wheel that you can play with that adjust the amount of snap you get. I have a south ord pick gun, I usually have to play with that wheel for each lock, because of minor imperfection inside the lock.

you have to use your tension correctly, dont apply constant presure, do like a on/off presure on the plug and make sure your snaping all the pins equally.

I got this pick gun and never have any problem with it
maybe you just need to adjust the wheel or replace the needles
hope this helps.

Yes it is. I have both a Lock Aid pick gun and an eagle pick gun ,the success rate and quality of the Lock Aid pick far surpasses that of the eagle pick gun

Just got one of these from DX yesterday. It works just fine. The only issue is that I had to sand the edges of the needles as they were shaving the pins. Other than that, its a great little tool.

hi lads what i have found is folk try to put the needle right up to the pins when snapping

try to just rest the needle on the tension wrench and keep the needle in the gun level

often its the back pin that hold so try to hit it first too often thats all it takes to bind the lock

hope this helps :D

I bought a eagle pick gun from deal extreme, it worked great for about a month and now it doesn't "jump" right when you pull the trigger. It barley moves. Now I can't open any locks with it. I don't know whats wrong, I've adjusted the tension every way possible.

EDIT-

I opened my pick gun up, and bent a the little piece of metal that the trigger catches on, and now it seems to work correctly again. Not sure how that got bent.

i brought snap gun made by klom beacause it was cheap. in the first day it bent inside, had to keep opening case and straightening bit that attaches to trigger. adjustment screw did nout. in 1 month finally opened 1 lock trigger fingers covered in blisters. gave up on snap guns as useless.

told by friend they did work, brought one by brockage beacuse it said it had lifetime warantee . what a differance fantastic worked first time. i didn't think klom was bad make before

u get wot u pays for

So correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the Eagle lock pick guns are not worth it due to all the problems everyone seems to have with them..?

Does anyone have a personal favorite they would recommend?
