My keychain pickset

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

My keychain pickset

Postby jor2daje » 6 Apr 2009 20:18

Ok so I am a complete noob when it comes to lock picking, a couple months ago I bought the DX 9 piece set and was pleasantly surprised, I ended up using it a lot more than i thought I would. But I had to keep them in my car, so I thought I would make something that easily fits in my pocket with my keys.

I made the set out of two hacksaw blades, held together with a screw and bolt which a soldered a piece of wire to.

I made a tension wrench that clips onto the ring on the back, but forgot to put it on for the picture.

Noob or not those look good. How do they work for you compared to your DX set?

They are fairly similar to my DX set, I only have practiced on a couple of locks but Ive opened every one I could with my DX set and one more that I was unable to open with my DX set. I don't know if this was just due to more practice or if the picks made a difference.

Great work!
I've made some myself as well, but I gave them to a colleague who just started picking.
I personally use the Southord Jack knife for portability, but it's much more expensive of course ;)

I used a bench grinder and a set of files.

NICE!!!!! Kinda reminiscent of auto jigglers.BTW,HPC once offered a keychain pickset. It was tiny leather snapover case with a metal grommet at the bottom and it contained a mini short hook,a mini diamond and mini standard tension wrench.I was going to post the link, but I see that it is no longer on HPC's product line.

Regards,

Alex.

Very nice indeed. I'm liking the feeler with the little groove on it, gotta get myself one of those. What length are they overall?
