not kidding, I have made long reach pieces for specific applications.
It helps me loosen up when my tension is too tight. It's hard to over tension with an extra long hook, because it exaggerates how ineffective a white knuckle tension can be. At 7 inches long, it's probably too much reach, but I do find uses for it often enough to make it handy.

About .032 inches on the length of the hook, but the rest is .046. That's as close as I can guess with my caliper anyway. It will work in smaller keyways, because it's well sanded, but not exactly ideal for difficult bitings on padlock cylinders.
