Looking at the catalogue page one the shrouded shackle padlock, I realized that shrouded shackle padlocks do not really escape the boltcutter if the bolt cutter is ground down to fit in the available space,

meaning that if a bolt cutter were made specifically for shrouded locks, the protection of the shroud cannot be maintained.

Just think about what you would need to grind off the pincher, a good deal of one of the sides as that would only press against the shroud, and a carbide tooth that cuts into the shackle. this could be just a blade about half the width of the shackle, that could be pushed through the metal about two thirds of the way and the thing should fracture through

bolt cutters are designed for rebar. none I have seen has been specific to locks and when they do start making them, its time to redesign the padlock so they are all hockey pucks.

yes i think it wud be a good idea too, then the bolt crops would notbe able to cut through anything,

so do you no if theres a side bar in the lock ????

To the OP you really need to start typing out full English words if you want your posts to remain. Text speak is not allowed on this forum, nor is it appreciated by our members over 23 who don't understand kids these days.

WHAT???

I had to go back and re-read his post to see what you meant and got quite a shock to see you were quite right Freakparade! - Is this the beginning of the end for me??? I had read his post completely through and never even realised some was in text speak - I've been exposed to so much leet speak that I think I've been infected... To use a wonderful old English phrase - Oh heck!

I admit I'm old. My nieces send me text messages all the time and I have to call them to see what they just sent me in a message. I don't understand kids these days, I have given up trying to.

I assmue yov'ue hread aubot the stduy that swhoed egnilsh text to be farily raedalbe with all the lteters mxied up a long as the frist and last letter were croerct.

if you scan over the text, not reading it to yourself in your head, you'll often extract a lot of meaning without realizing it. If you read it more slowly, you'll find you have to painfully decrypt each scrambled or encoded word. Maybe it's like raking versus picking...

Yeah, but Freakparade and everyone else - I never expected it to happen to me at my age...!

I bet I'm the oldest one who's commented on this thread so far? (Mid 40s). There I was; all expecting to sink subliminally & un-noticed into old-fartdom and then I go an pick something like this up, almost osmotically!
