What province are you in? Some require you be a locksmith to own picks.

Some of the places will finish the sale with you clicking a button or acknowledging a printed statement that says by purchasing these tools, you are a certified locksmith, or real estate agent, or tow truck operator or mechanic etc. and that you are legally able to have such tools where you live. Standard cover their butts thing.

Well, click away. I have never seen a retailer ask for supporting documents for a pick set. Customs is another story though. Not sure what they will do.

Call them on the phone. Explain that you want to order a bunch of specialty tools and see what they say. Nothing to lose by telling them the truth. They might give you a section of the customs act that says such things are OK. Or at least a heads up on what to expect.

I would try to use a courier rather than Canada Post. Just because of tracking.

Many Canadians live near the border and have a US mailbox that avoids such problems.

I'm north of Toronto, just order them. You won't have any issues unless your on a watch list with the police/gov't/CBSA

Yes to both. I have used countless companies- too many to list.

Mind you, I'm on a "good list" with my occupation.. (working for the gov't helps) my packages are never opened, or held.

There's a guy based out of Winnipeg ( http://www.lockandkeysupply.com ) that sells picks/tools but I don't know of many Canadian online suppliers that will sell to non-locksmiths. I've ordered many picks/tools successfully from the USA (sites such as lockpickshop.com and lockpicks.com). They ship by courier and I've never had a lost/seized shipment. Customs did seize a car opening tool shipped by postal mail once. They eventually released it but the RCMP were at my door a few days later.

I've read threads on here saying the police will never come to your door, which is baloney. Customs (CBSA) will report anything suspicious to your local police service. Whether the police choose to investigate it further is up to them. So you need to look at your local laws if you want to risk ordering picks over the border.

Yes, he is in Canada and ships to Canadians. Very reputable -- placed a few orders and not a single problem. I don't know of any other Canadian online locksmithing stores... Does anyone else? :?:

To contribute, I'm located near Toronto and have gone through various orders from different sites; some from the states, some from Hong Kong. Everything went through without a hitch.
Just doing this for fun.
