Hiyas, new to the site and lockpicking. I'm usually not much of a board poster, but wanted to say hello. A friend at work has been lockpicking for a few years now and they let me try to pick a lock and I'm 2 for 2 now :) Anyways I thought it was very interesting and I'm always up for learning something new. I'm in San Diego, CA :)

hello
I'm a fairly new hobby-picker, UK slimline southords and cheap padlocks/5 pin tumblers, and i experiment with making my own picks/t wrenches
I like the hack value of picking. this site is very useful, thanks

hey everyone. im somewhat new to the site. joined about a month or so ago but never really posted. this is my 2nd or 3rd post.
ive been picking for about 5 or 6 months now and i would consider myself pretty good. i have about 20 or 30 locks that i use and can get pretty quick. i have a couple different jackknife pick sets that i enjoy using. i also have a set of 7 or 8 picks that i made myself out of hacksaw blades and an allen key tension wrench using only a couple files and a bench vise. i need to invest in a bench grinder..
im also taking Penn Fosters locksmithing course so im on my way to become a locksmith. ive been collecting keys most of my life so i have alot of keys as well. i hope to meet and talk to alot of new people that enjoy the trade as much as i do.
thanks

Hello everybody! I have been opening cars as a locksmith apprentice for a AAA contractor now for about a year and have unlocked nearly 2000 cars. I am beginning to get into key making and am eager to learn as much as possible about automotive locksmithing particularly. I plan on making a serious career out of it. I am greatful to have found this site and hope that I will find some useful information. Thanks!

... I used to work for a CAA (Canada's AAA) and I never knew of anyone unlocking more than 5 cars a day- and that's working every day. Which city you working in? and were you a unlock specialist only? (as in, was that your only job task?- so no battery, flat tire fixes, etc)?

40mins / truck roll, 6 days a week, 7 cars a day, 5hrs/day of just truck roll. 10mins to get into a car, that's 6hrs/day.
In the top three or four cities, I could see that if you somehow were the only one doing it. I'd like to know what city that is though... ;)

Hello all,
I have been interested in locks and lock picking since I was 10 years old, I picked my first lock aged 11, a simple Blaupunkt Car Cassete Player lock using a screwdriver from a Christmas cracker i bent into into a tension wrench by wedging it between the slabs on my patio and a pick made from one of my mothers hair pins. (dont worry, I wasnt stealing car sterios, just playing with it after my dad lost the keys)
By the time I was 14 I could open any cheap 3-4 pin lock like those on money boxes and lockers, and most simple padlocks such as Tri-Circle's. But by then i was in Secondary school and had to hold off on my hobby for a while thanks to homework.
At 16 I could open any filing cabinet or desk draw (thanks school!) and started to learn more about locks in general. Unfortunatly I got into computers at around the same time and my lock picking hobby got put in a box rarely to be seen again.
Now after 5 years PC repair, and 5 years as a Commercial vehicle mechanic I am taking up my hobby again in order to get into Lock Smithing as a Proffesion, mostly on Commercial vehicles maybe cars and houses too. I found that as a mechanic I was expected to break into trucks when the owners had lost or locked in the keys, and that i earnt far more money from that simple act than fixing their trucks i decided to change my job.
So here i am, Hoping to pick up enough skills and information to be a bit more technically savay before i can afford to go on a course.
