Tri-Circle 262?

Postby AzHP » 14 Aug 2004 4:07

Well, I've seen a few topics on tricircles, but only the 264 and 265 so...has anyone picked the 262? I'm a beginner so I don't know if it's because of inexperience or shoddy lock, but I can't pick it...anyone else own one?

i got the bigger brothers, 263, 264 and 265, can't open them yet. Ive opened abus 85/40 but can't open these :S i get like 4 pins on the 5 pin lock, and 3 pins on the 4 pin lock, but the last one is always stuck past the shear line, while pressing down the furthest pin.. pretty annoying, have tried all of my 13 home made picks and they don't really work, need to make new designs i guess

I have the 265 and the only advice I can give you guys is: try some fierce raking, 5/6/7 times, then pick the remaining unset pins one at a time. Also, the 265 I have requires heavier torque than any other lock I have come across. Good luck!

Also, check http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=1342&highlight=. PYRO advocates light tension and ferocious raking.

Actually, the light tension is necessary when raking. I just opened it just by raking, with very light tension. I seem to remember that heavier tension helped at pin picking this lock -- but of course, I could be wrong -- as Bugs Bunny said.

the problem with mine is is that the second last pin has to be lifted a very little bit, and the furthest last pin has to be lifted a lot.. how do i solve that?

If you're sure you have set all the other pins, then get out your biggest hook (the Tri-Circle 265 has a big, wide keyway) and use that to reach over the one but last pin. That should work. You may need to twist the pick slightly, slant it to one side so you won't disturb the adjacent pin. Or, which is the case with my 265, when you first start raking the lock, make sure you depress the sixth pin slightly, then rake from there. This should bounce it into place.

Succes ermee!

I have used mine as the next step up after my first proper training lock. It remains a challenge, however; there are days I cannot pick any lock at all.

Well, this tri-circle 262 is a tiny one, and I totally can't figure it out...but I guess I'll leave it for later.

It's 63mm, according to the packaging. Whats the 265's size?

And I can open the 266 in about 5 seconds with some vigorous raking with the middle pins coupled with light tension/torque, which seems to be the best strategy, but this doesn't work all the time. Does it have any security pins in it?

my problem with the 265 is that when i use very very light tension, the pins don't bind enough to be kept set, and when i increase the tension, the pins are unable to move enough to feel them click.. very annoying

You could try pushing all the pins up at the same time with a pick, increasing the tension, removing the pick, letting down the tension a bit and then trying to pick or rake it.
