MECHANICAL BUMPGUN -the simplest so far

Postby yono » 31 May 2009 5:05

the most simple one as i happened to stumbled upon and modify a little, was the one that came from a removed door. its door stopper. It came from Yale BKS and was made in Germany. it works fine with some practice of course. i made the mark line to determine which distance from the key is enough when bumped. please see pic. it might be useful to you too. you dont need to modify the spring, it is enough strenght, it is the distance and the timing you need to practice with. still ,the bumpkey hammer is irreplaceable.

It looks more like he riveted a small plate onto the key, so that there was more surface area on top of the key for the bump gun to hit.
<jkthecjer> this kwikset did not yield so easily

I think it's an excellent idea! If you could figure out how you might be able to make some sort of attachment that could bump at the right distance and also provide tension on the key it would be more excellent.

I created what was the only bumping device on this site until you came along  Check out my crude but simple devise and see if it might give you some ideas. If you scroll down you will see some photos but you won't be able to view the video because YouTube suspended my account, and I'm pretty sure it was because of this bumping devise.

I found the video and uploaded it to Photo Bucket.

TO UNLISTED: the bumpkey you see in the background was an actually schlage and a cut off DOM key, i riveted it with each other to protect the shoulder of my B.key they predicted it before that it will make a mark on the cylinder when bumped but in my observation it does not (on normal bumping) so i proceed with the proj.
TO JIMB: what an idea you got there, it's great man. and with your permission can i build one same as i see in your entry, i think i can add some features in it. if you dont mind? i keep you inform. regards

Please do, that was my intent. I wanted to see someone to build a better one. The purpose was to make something that looked more professional than a screw driver.
