Just starting out

I have always been interested in lock picking and when I found this forum I was invigorated. I ordered a beginners set (14 piece) from southord. The day after receiving my new toys I was able to single pick all but three of the locks where I work (Quicksets). I was even able to rake a couple of them and I also raked a lockbox. I am hooked. So my question is, should I order a set of slim line pick for smaller locks? I am new to the art will gladly accept all of the advice I can get.

I strongly suggest your next purchase be some practice locks, for your own good. What would your employer think if you were caught picking the locks at your work, or worse yet, what if you break a lock?


One of our mottos here is "we don't pick locks in use" Trust me, locks will fail very rapidly from picking, raking, bumping, etc.
