simple but effective picks

hi there this is peezick meezaster,

let me intoduce myself, i"v been picking locks on and off for about ten years now,so i"m not exactly a noobie! I"ve read pretty much all of the threads that caught my attention, but what surprised me the most was every one seems to be overlooking a very simple home made pick:stainless steel nail files. Their very strong and easy to file to what ever pick shape you want, they come in a wide variety of sizes and are very effective and thats all i"v been using to pick locks for a while, since highschool.i made a couple of hook picks and half diamond picks and that pretty much works every time, if you leave the file thick at the bottom you never really need a tension wrench to open the lock.If you have any questions or comments about these very simple, cheap to make picks, write back to me.

I tried making a pick out of a nail file, it bent way too easily.

i think you will find that most people go for the cheaper materials, like hacksaw blades, not nail files

A material that beats your nail files.

A cheap stainless steel engineer's ruler. Comes with a slide off pocket clip, and you can almost bend a 6 inch ruler back onto itself without bending it or kinking it.

1/2" x 6" x .022"

Cost $0.55 - $0.88 cents each.

These things are great. Almost as good as automotive feeler gauges.
