Hi every1, i'm new to lock picking as i got a standard set 2 weeks ago. Ive been practicing picking my sliding security screen (standard 5 pin tumbler) i picked it the first time about an hour after i got the kit, though cheated a bit with the snake rake. Glass door is more difficult though as i snapped 1 of my tension wrenches.

Hi, I'm new on this page. much of the reason for that is my poor English, i have good experience with house locks and padlocks, but want to specialize on car locks. Unfortunately it does not look like there are a lot of help to get with that on this page, for the section on car locks is closed. and with my bad English, it is difficult for me to be very active in the other threads in here to gain access, but of course I will try my best to be active here. i mostly read English rather than writing it.

hey there new to the site not to the lock picking. i need help i have a combination lock with three numbered wheels on the side and no combination to it. i can not work out how to get it open i have tried many ways including various shims but nothing. i have also tried searching the internet but it is a very uncommon brand. it looks like a regular master lock but with three number wheels on the side. anyone think theyu have a solution??? i wouldnt mind so much but i found it on a chest at my fathers when clearing out the house and my brother without thinking locked it:(

I have been reading and watching alot from this site.After watching a video on lock picking I succesfully picked a commercial Sargent 5 pin lock.I can do it in less then 2 min.I was wondering if it is harder with more pins? like in a lock that 3 different keys work versus a 1 key lock like i used?It was 14463.I will be trying to find out.thanks for your Info.

I`m a cobbler/keymaker, and during the quiet hours started picking on padlocks (cheap) that I sell.
This is a great site, and makes the hobby much more interesting. Every once in a while a costumer has lost a key or locked themselves out side of car, and I´ve so far been able to help only few of them, so I want to learn more. My ultimate goal is Abloy, a classic will do. :)

Just recently got interested in locks after I saw the wealth of info now available online. I've always been a bit intrigued by the whole puzzle aspect of locks, but short of actually getting formally trained as a locksmith, I've always assumed the knowledge was limited to either those members of a very private guild or those who have some sort of devious and nefarious intentions behind their attempts learn the art. Anyhow, glad to see that I'm not the only one with a hobbyists interest and looking forward to learning from y'all!

Found this site off of google, I've been looking up for a week how to pick this old master lock I have, only problem is I don't have the model number or anything. Well, google pointed me to here, great site so far.

Always been interested in locks and toyed with it over the years but never serious. I've been involved with telescope making, experimental aircraft construction and was a design drafter in all fields (architectural, mechanical and electrical). Presently I'm the head mechanic at a bowling alley in Ohio and just started taking the Foley-Belsaw class as a side income and to rekindle my interest in locks.

Had a great day picking,just started grabbing cylinders.Think i opened 8 in a row.I was AMAZED. Then tried a pistol pick.Thought it worked well on a few,then one did not open.Picked up my half diamond started in.The 4th and 5th pins felt much longer,but it did finnally open.That was all loose cyl. so when i got home tried the side door lock.It did not take long to turn but only a quarter turn and i could not turn the quickset no more to get in.Tried several times. Am i missing something here?
