Pick Shapes

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Pick Shapes

Postby lokpikr999 » 24 Jun 2009 11:03

Here's a question that has plagued me for quite some time,so I thought I'd ask everybody:Who designed the classic pick shapes(Hook, diamond, ball, snake rake etc.)that we all know and love today?

Regards,

Alex.

I believe that locksmiths independently invented and used thier own picks long before there was an industry stamping them out. I think that the picks sold commerciallly are just copies of designs that had been in use by people who made thier own.
The hook and half diamond are so elementary that the problem that you are trying to solve suggests them.
Someone named deforest may have started making the small diamond on the bent shaft.
I invented the bogota rake, halfdiamond, sabana, double sided bogota rakes and some others.
Wake up and smell the Kafka!!!
