Scored a lock today!

I was at work this morning, the bank called said that they couldn't get one of our deposit bags unlocked... the key wouldn't go in all the way...she wanted me to bring our keys out and try them....

So I took the keys to the bags with me and tried to open the lock... no can do at first but with a little working i got it to open.. but they said that since it was in such disarray they were going to retire it from use... I thought... OHHH lock! so I asked if I could have it... she.. to my suprise.. said sure... Turns out it is a 7 pin...

also turns out it was perhaps sort of a security flaw... the thing was masterkeyed... (I didn't know.. thought it was a possibility though.. )
so I guess I could have taken apart the cylinder really carefully and gotten the combo for the master key, but I just dumped it out because i didn't want the combo for the master key

Here's a pic of the plug... I figure if I throw some spools, along with a difficult bitting, it would be a nightmare...

That's awsome- I have yet to come accross a 7-pin lock (in real life that is). Great find

ive found some 7 pin boyd locks..unfortunatly not unless in at the trains station when they replace them..they are out of my reach

also... The only thing wrong with the lock was the plug was gummed up with some crap... I'm guessing pop/sweet tea/something else sugary... someone spilled something on this deposit bag a few days ago.. so after taking it apart, a little cleaning.. it is good as new.. just need to drill 3 holes in the bottom and put some screws in to hold the plate on.. (I had to drill out the rivets to open it)

in its present state, this lock is sadly disappointing as far as difficulity... I'd rate it less secure than a kwikset! which it isn't designed to keep theives out, as a thief who gets the bag can open it much quicker with a blade. Oh well.. maybe I can throw some spools in it and have some fun

I have a couple of seven pin locks (Both same manufacturer).

The real with these is normal picks aren't long enough to reach the back pins. In addition to being 7pin, the locks I have are the length of eight pin (don't ask!) and have extra large spacing between each pins.

I now have some special home made tools which I use to pick such locks.
