Master keyways for bumping

Postby vector40 » 3 Jul 2009 17:00

Hi all,

Just found this file floating around on my computer. I put this together way back when I was operating a lockout service and was interested in using bumpkeys as another layer of my attack plan; my goal was to have a set of keys that could bump as many locks as possible without being totally overwhelming. So as much as possible, I used the high-level "master" blanks that pass most of the common keyways. I focused on the more common types, at least in my area, but went pretty comprehensive, although I left off at the really obscure stuff.

Anyway, I thought this might be useful to someone, probably mostly lockout folks or anyone with a similar need to use bumping as a serious and comprehensive approach rather than just a novelty. A word of warning: many of these blanks are, by virtue of their universality, quite thin. You should figure out on your own just how durable they are and treat them (or replace them) accordingly.

This is presented as-is, YMMV, etc...

The numbers after the keyway names are the number of pins. In some cases you can simply use the "longest" blank for all variations, but if the plug is capped that won't work.

nice compilation there. key families are always useful, not just for bumping but for many other rekeying and impressioning needs. Thanks for putting this together, well done :)

Oops, just noticed that your Falcon family is Weiser. Falcon is all Best keyways isn't it? Most falcon stuff in my area is all IC format so don't quote me on that, that's just how it is here. Good job still :)

Nah, Falcon does standard cylinders as well.

Guess I didn't mention this above -- some of the blanks listed are designated with their Ilco catalogue numbers. The rest are the manufacturer designations. "R" is the name Falcon uses for their all-pass blank.
