help planing my van

Postby butterboy » 16 Jul 2009 21:24

Well heres the deal, I have finaly got the van I allways wanted not realy but I love it.
It a chevy c20 1987 Its about as short as a van can get, a down fall but o'well.
So all I have to mount is 2 machines code/duplicator.
Of course I do need to get a bigger power inverter and battery , battery and box for it I have ,and i will install them under one of the cabents or desk.
Im trying to figure how much/little work space I can minamize I such a small space.
So any and all design ideas and flaws you did to your van let me know..
I do have 3 nice lights to insall and one thing to remember in the back passenger side back the is a spare tire , also in the back top theres a small cabenet that drops down from the celing about 10 inches.
Its insulated and paneled and carpet , im thinking of makeing the passenger seat swivel to face the back and make it the seat to work from, just an idea, it would save space not have ing another seat or stool.

Took some measurements its 5 foot by 8 foot basicly.
It doesnt have any windows except the back doors and they are tinted, so I definatly need to install the lights I have, above the work area, maybe put a light in a cabenet or even under the work table to light it up if I drop something.
Ill figure it out but I want it to be way tricked out.

a word of advice.

put a cage behind the drivers seat. The last thing you need is for your machines and tools to hit you in the head when you need to brake suddenly.

I'd recommend ALSO screwing/bolting everything down. (use brackets if you need to)

That will hold stuff down for sudden hard brakeing- and the partition (I'd recommend the full one, or the one with the door in the middle) behind the seat will protect you if its a (bad) accident.

Insulation foam behind any racks, cabinets, or counters will preserve your van and sanity at the same time.

Safety first, well in designing your new van just consider some safety measures for you
and your passengers, well it is really important to do that for as we all know accidents
happens, then don't forget your tools to bring with you all the time
