Locked Out

Postby Gaucho » 21 Aug 2004 15:17

I just moved into an apt. Apparently the people before me put a lock on the closet. It somehow got locked and shut! Does anyone have any info on how to pick a basic key lock?

there is basic info all around this site... do some searching..

but you may as well just cut to the chase and call a locksmith because it isn't something you just learn to do in five seconds.
I wish the world was flat like the old days, and I could travel just by folding the map.

Gaucho,

We both know your manager will get this open for you... but to satisfy your interest:

Yeah... we can help... in fact... we've got a long history of posts and a collection of FAQs. Also the site features search functions. Since you didn't tell us the brand or style of lock your facing... I'll presume you'll go look at it and try that in the search panel.

Look for a "MIT Guide"... it'll give you the basics and we'll be happy to answer questions once you get the basics out of the way.

Cheers

Try a carpet knife.

If that doesn't work, do a lot of reading, and learn to pick.

Or, call a locksmith, or use a pry bar.

Like Rom said, a carpet knife, loid the lock and be done.
