Im not sure whether or not anyone has tried this, but i was picking a masterlock yesterday, the NO. 1. And i tried to imitate a pick/ snap gun. And supprisingly it was very effective. I was able to quickly jiggle the pick in my hand, applying a light to medium tension, and open the lock in about one minute. I realize that this isnt record time, but i was supprised at the effectiveness.
If anyone else knows of any other picking styles, that could make lock opening faster, or has also done this, post up. Id like to hear about it.
over and out captain

I just stick my large rake in, pull it out real quick, put my half diamond and quickly 'pick' the remaining pins. I can do all the locks I own (5 master padlocks, 10 misc. door locks schlage.quickset.ilco.) and have em open in under 10 seconds.

Ok dude alot of the time i do what u do - imtimidate the pick gun - it works on locks somtimes that are imune to scrubbing and pin by pin picking.

Another technique I found that worked on my kwikset, I don't know if this works on others because I only tried on two locks before. Well, what you do is just put your pick and all the way back and vibrate the pick with your hand (you have to have fast hands). This worked on my kwikset and opened it in a couple of seconds. If you guys try this post your experiences. Thanks.

Yup. When I was first starting out (sheesh I sound like a grandpa or something) I would sometimes get frustrated, and just stick my pick in the lock and rake it furiously and POP, it would open. I'd get sooo mad when it did that after I'd spend like 10 or 15 minutes trying to single-pick it...Drove me nuts sometimes.

But since their is some locks that can't be raked and scrubbed, people don't need to make it the only style they know how to do. I can scrubb locks very good now, but had to hide my scrubbing picks b/c I was only using it, and would rather know how to single pick. It can do all, unlike scrubbing

Phoenix: Exactly, so in a brief statement:
Single-picking is the highest form of lockpicking.

Well, I'm an extreme begginner, I just picked my first lock, a 4 pin old pin tumbular lock, and I just inserted the tension wrench and applied medium/firm tension and put in my diamond pick reversed and pushed all the pins up simotaniously, worked quite well, but taking my advice might be a mistake, I'v just started.

Sometimes sneezing on masterlocks works just as well as randomly jiggling the pick, At least for their common blue-rim-bottom ones that you can buy for around $3USD. They're rediculously easy.
Master's Warded locks are even more humorous. I love picking a friend's lock faster than they could open it with their warded key

Imitating a gun pick is very simple, and depends on what pick you use.
The most progessional way is a to use a rake from end to front and than from the lock opening till the end. It requires a practice, but if you handle the job you can pick a lock easier (although it often requires more time than with any other pick).
Try using different pressure on the spinner, give it a slight push anytime you move to another pin. Sometimes a lock sort of jamms and is actually open but you still try to pick it because you think it is still locked.
The unlimitness power of mind limits us to this computer!
