Got myself a box of Assa locks

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Got myself a box of Assa locks

Postby Xarragon » 15 Sep 2009 18:05

I was lucky enough to land myself a deal for a box of various lock parts on the swedish equivalent of Ebay; Tradera. For roughly $30 (mostly shipping costs since this weighted in at close to 35 pounds). I got all this stuff, almost 30 Assa 7-pin cylinders in total, plus two 7-lever locks from Assa/Ruko and some other lever locks.

The Assa lever locks were pecuilar though. As some people at the IRC channel pointed out, the keyhole is upside-down. What the hell?

And the box also included a bunch of other goodies:

There was also another lock simply marked by the insignia of the swedish telecommunications company Ericsson (initially called LM Ericsson). Pretty narrow keyway actually, not even my most slimmed down picks go in well in it.

I hoped for 5-6 cylinders myself, each with 5 pins. But this was more than I expected!
The key you see in the picture is actually stuck in the lock, any ideas on what migh be binding it into the lock? I can see a white, grainy residue all over it.

To everyone interesting purchasing some of these locks I must remind you that I do live in Sweden, Europe. So money transfer and shipping will probably be a big hassle... I can surely sell at least part of this load.

Do you take PayPal?
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

This is NOT BST- keep on topic, if the OP wants to sell, he will put up a listing.

Enough on the "I wanna buy, how much" posts plz.

K Thanks!

I'm not super familiar with lever locks, but that keyhole looks OK from here. If it were turned around there wouldn't be any room for the lever pack between the bitting and the side of the lock. Am I missing something obvious?

They seems strange IF you think the keyhole must be under the knob...
Sometimes the keyhole is under the knob, sometimes the knob is under the keyhole.
There's nothing wrong with these lever locks.

Cheers :)
