I've not seen that specific key-in-knob before, but I think it's a Schlage with a "locked" indicator. Something similar to what's shown in Patent 2,793,522.

I'm guessing that this is the Falcon "G" keyway version.

There are some old miscellaneous Schlage parts at my work that have the hole through them like that. But not all the parts to put them together.

I was told a long time ago that they were for hotels. The basic function being that one could lock the door from the inside and it would prevent the other keys from working the lock. So that you couldn't be disturbed. I was also told that a master key could over ride this and let someone in, in case of emergency.

I didn't read through the patent that MacGyver101 pointed out. So hopefully the info I have is correct.

MacGuyver101 is correct, I'm pretty sure. That looks like Schlage's tulip design with a hotel function indicator cylinder (21-003 is the part number if you want to research it a bit further).

Farmer, BEST/Falcon do make hotel function indicator cylinder's but that doesn't look remotely like the 'G' keyway.

Great deal. Did it come with a latch or are there any brand markings anywhere on it? That keyway is perplexing me.

But the picture is clearly a Falcon "G" keyway.

...not a Best/Falcon "G" keyway. This was probably before Best and Falcon were together.

And yes Unlisted, $2 is a great deal. And a good find.

it looks like a high security key in knob lock or maybe a anti kick in or drill out bar or might just be a locked indicator like another user said
