Nothing But Padlocks

Postby northcave » 8 Oct 2009 5:25

Hi Chaps,

I'm writing from a company called [edit]. As we're in the business of[edit] we obviously pay close attention to which locks can be picked more easily and like to receive the feedback.

The reason for the post is that we'd also like to setup a competition of some sort in order to test some of our locks in a safe and legal environment. The advantage would be two fold for us:

1. We'd get some our locks tested out and receive feedback
2. We'd generate interest and links to our site hopefully which will help out Google listings

That said if anyone could think of any more ways for us to form alliances with the lock pick community but in a positive way then we'd love to hear them?

Many thanks

Tim

First of all congrats for your website: it's clear and simple with a good design.

If you organize a pick competition let us know, I guess there'll be a lot of interest.

Another option could be to send the locks to some of us to test them and write you a review.
I'm doing this for a friend who works for a well known Italian factory. It's a time consuming activity and it's less exciting than a competition but it's a lot easier to organize.

Just explain the idea and you'll find many interested.

Keep in mind that theft are committed destructively, so I don't know how you can use the info you'll get from us pickers.

Good luck :)

Yeah that sounds like a good starting point. It would only really work to setup a page on a site like this so that everyone could discuss the locks together and we could details the specifications of each. This way it would be more sociable and plus we'd hope to get some links to our site from it.

Thoughts?

I am editing this thread and removing all links to your business. If you want to use this forum as a advertisement for your business, you need to speak to the site owner or a administrator, and get permission/approval first.

I was going to let this "slide," but with both your posts stating your hoping to get search results from this site directly, it does not fly with the site rules.

Don't take this as a negative, I am sure many members here would love to assist you on the first request, and I know some members are more than capable of offering that assistance. The issue is the second request in your first post.

Yeah that was why I openly mentioned it. No one is going to buy a padlock from a lock pick site so it is not an advert. I openly asked for suggested whereby we'd could offer padlocks in exchange for something. It is 2 way other wise we'd just be giving you guys free locks?

I am not going to argue details.

If you want to use this forum to advertise your business, you need owner/admin permission for that.

If you wish to have members of this community "test" your locks, that is allowed.

Again, do not take this as a negative. The only issue is openly advertising your website on this forum without permission. You can mention it, but no hotlinking.

Interesting and neat concept. I hope everything pans out between you and forum management. Success with a project like this could help revolutionize the way locks are designed and tested.

I've been fortunate enough to participate in something similar but it was through the company I work for. The hobbyist/enthusiast spectrum seems like it'd be equally productive and effective especially since there aren't any brand loyalty or conflicts of interest that you would typically see/expect from a locksmith company.

Good luck, keep us posted.

At least post the site as plain text without the hyperlink so we can take a look.

That's very nice, but I can't see it.

If that's the case - well, this site seems to simply be an ABUS reseller.
Nice locks, but I'm not sure if a picking competition would be the right thing to drive sales to them...

Hi Femurat, I see that you read this before unlisted stepped on it. I was wondering if you could tell me what the website is. if possible.

Thanks
Rai
