Tubular lock pick

Postby ElbowMacaroni » 4 Nov 2009 1:08

I learned something today... don't accidentally remove the tubular pick when in a partially turned position. I jammed a pin in the slot, it wiggles a bit but won't depress and the cylinder won't turn.

Oh well, live and learn...

WOW! that was a total b***h! I got it back to normal again. My OP was a couple hours after jamming it and just wanted to vent and warn others. I did actually get it back with the pick.

Moral of the story "Be careful"

It sounds like you were picking one that was manufactured very poorly. I have had the same problem before when playing around with crappy locks. It happens when a key pin gets stuck between two driver pins, or vice a versa. And it can happen while keeping the pick in the lock. Usually only happens if you turn it really slow,..on a crappy lock.

If it happens again. The easiest way to fix the problem is to turn the lock upside down (if possible), then continue to turn the plug back.

Well, it was a kryptonite, so it should have been at least ok quality, and well, my TENS unit zapped me real good and I jumped while turning it so the pick came out mid-turn. What happened is one of the key pins slid over into the "empty" position and jammed there at an angle. Enough wiggling and it eventually went back, but it was tough... I'd thought I'd made a chunk of scrap metal!

Although, maybe I should crank the TENS up real high and put it on burst mode when using my bogota on pin tumblers! LOL!

Its worst when you accidentally let took out the pick and a pin or two come flying at you!

Yeah, I was pretty lucky that it jammed at an angle, as it could have easily fit through the opening.
