Medeco cylinder lock

Postby barnyx » 8 Nov 2009 17:00

Hi, I have a Treadlock security chest that was made in the late 70's or early 80's. The chest came with two(2) Medeco locks. I have lost one(1) of the locks and have been unsuccessful in finding an identical replacement. Treadlock is no longer in business as far as I can tell and Medeco's web site does not show a lock similar to mine. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find a new lock? I really need just the cylinder as I do have a replacement tumbler(i think thats what you call the part where the key goes in?)I will attach a pic. of the lock I still have.
Lock is 3'' in length x 1'' diam.
Thanks
barnyx

Looks like a vending machine lock inside some kind of custom housing. Interesting. I would be surprised if you could find another one of those, sorry!

brialliant! that's all it is, just a t-handle cylinder inside that milled piece.

OP: Turn the key to open position, and then push the plunger in even further, while pulling on the key in order to remove cylinder from housing. From there, its gonna be just a generic medeco t-handle cylinder.

good deal HERE

good luck,

Thanks for the replies guys. I could not find the exact replacement size so I am having a local machine shop fabricate the housing. They are going to make a copy of the lock from the one I had.
