RW4 vs. TRS5000

Postby Wizer » 11 Nov 2009 11:31

Hi!
I´ve been thinking of upgrading my transponder duplicator and would like to hear if anyone has worked with both of these devices.
Wich one do You recommend?
I have RW2 upgraded to 3 and Tex Code advanced.
The JMA´s trs5000 would be couple hundred euros cheaper for me, but I would have to get some texas and texas crypto- blanks, that will easily cost those couple hundred euros.
JMA´s Texas transponder blanks will cost maybe 5-10 euros less per key if compaired to silcas EH2 + keyblade, so in the long run JMA would be cheaper. Plus the EH2 - keys are really big, and need a battery, so JMA´s sell better.
There was (or is) a law issue on JMA´s TPX1 & TPX2, and the Silca salesman has been threatening that JMA might not be able to sell those chips for long, but I´ve found no info on this. Does anybody know how it turned out?

We used to have an upgraded RW2 and Tex code advanced too. But we had the chance to trade it in for an Elme MegaCopy.
We also use the EHS2 , but I personally don't like them. They are big , ugly , expensive and there is that battery issue.
There is an update for the Megacopy coming soon that will allow it to write to the JMA transponders. So I'm quite excited about that. I personally think the JMA TPX2 is the better system of the 2.

On the other hand , I wouldn't get rid of the Silca RW just yet. On the silca site , there is some information on their current research to cloning ID46 transponders. But it's still under development. It seems promesing , but again , they use very big electronic key heads with batteries.
