Is there anyone in the uk/england that can make home made picks or can tell me how to make some cheap. I have no tools. I did order some from bumpleys but my guess is that they wont be delivering them now. Its been over a week and they wont even return my emails. I just really wanted some basic lock picks tool for learning to pick my padlocks but i cant even do that coz ukbumpkeys let me down.

Chill out and stop panicking, your picks will arrive. I've ordered from ukbk a number of times and have never experienced any problems. It's coming into december so they've probably started taking christmas orders already, and as far as I know it's just one guy who runs the site so you can't expect the service to be lightning fast all the time. If you want to make some picks but have no tools, you don't need anything fancy just to make some basic picks. Two words: wiper inserts. Find some... they're perfect for making picks and tension wrenches from. I've made a few picks from these, and they turned out pretty good even though I really suck at making things and only have very basic tools. All I used for making mine were a set of large files, some needle files, and a pair of pliers. You don't need anything for handles, but you can make those out of pretty much anything. As an example, here is a half diamond and a rake I made from wiper inserts, a wooden spoon and some string. You can also just bend the blade itself into a handle, which actually gives you better feedback, but you can't beat some nice rustic handles.

Most people on ebay run their business on their own but never let their customers down.

How long have they made you wait exactly?
The last time I ordered from them I found out that for some reason my e-mail address was banned from being able to join their forum and it took a little bit more than two weeks before my order arrived.
I've worked in a small eBay based company before that handled huge, HUGE amounts of orders. We had four people running things from the offices and 7 other people doing the shipping and even then we could get overwhelmed sometimes. Plus if the listing program we used had a problem then we suffer big time cos we can't get to all the placed orders needing to be pulled and shipped. Lot of stupid crap to deal with in a business like this.

I cant wait over two weeks for my order. Thats why i put in a dispute with paypal. They will have 20 days to send my order if not paypal will step in. Websites like devon locks offer next day delivery. Its been over a week now since i palced my order. Iv emailed them, iv called them. Postman came and went today and no lock picks. I am forced to splash out for another set from another website because i need some picks man. Bobby pins wont help me pop my locks.

Man, you could have waited, it takes awhile for things to ship, it's not like you have a business that requires you to have picks, what a mess, you may have cost this company money, I am sure the picks are in the mail, you will have to send them back and they will have to restock them. You should have listened to Solomon, it is the Holidays, probably one guy in the shop working his ass off. What a joke.

In all fairness if he has put something on the website saying that delivery time would be affected fair enough but he did not. Can i wait a week Yes. Can i wait two No. Why? because i have to master this squire lock why? because iv lost the keys and i cant get in my garage without it.
If devon locks can offer next day even at this busy time of the year then its just bad that ukbumpkeys take longer then a week. I can order something from china and it would be here in less time. I dont see how i cost him money i placed my order he has not delivered so iv files a complaint with paypal. He has 20 days to deliver otherwise paypal will step it and i am not suprised if others have not either. if you cant handle orders you get help. Sorry but in this day and age most websites get your item to you within 5 days. Their service is a joke when you can order a set of picks from deal extreme which is in china, japan or maybe hongkong and they can deliver in 5 days if you chose the delivery option. If someone can deliver from half way around the world in less them or from devon within 48 hours then so should ukbumpkeys. If ukbumpkeys sold on ebay they would have a lot of negative feedback for slow delivery i know this for a fact.

You said you ordered that squire lock on ebay to practice on, now you're saying there is one on your garage. I know you actually did order one, but it's a weird situation... guy gets locked out of garage, decides to buy picks online, then gets an identical lock to practice on? I don't like this one bit. I can't help wondering now, why you ordered a large pick set which contains tools for cars when you only needed to get into a feeble little padlock. Which happens to be on a garage. I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but I'll not be giving you any more advice just to be on the safe side here. Apologies if I've gotten you all wrong, but the way everything looks right now is a bit iffy and the forums do attract bad people on occasion. Like femurat said, if you get locked out of something you call a locksmith. You don't order picks online and try to have a go yourself... if you needed in that badly and couldn't afford a lockie (which by the looks of things you can afford) then you would have found another way in. It's a small lock which is easily broken off and it's cheap to replace - you even have a replacement for it sitting right there! I don't see why you're happy to wait a week for your picks so you can get into your garage when you want in there so badly.

Your a *********. I brought the squire to practise on so i dont bust the other squire. Why? because i alrady busted two padlocks trying to pick them with bobby pins. Why did i order the 22piece set? Because it was cheap and you or some other guy sai it is better to have a rang of picks. It has double sided picks which would open the lockers in my garage. Want photos of proof?. If my intentions where not good why would i post online?. Just forget you solo. I dont want to get in there badly its just got my furnature in there for restoration something i do in my spare time. I cant wait over a week for some fraudster with a fake website claiming to sell lock picks and never dispatching them. Why? because i do not wait that long for any kind of delivery it is not on. The lock i ordered came within 2 days The picks should have. Which leads me to believe that ukbumpkeys are a fraud and i will stand by that statment until proven otherwise. I am sat here bored [edit- NO swearing permitted] and i would be nice to have something to do "like spend time picking my padlocks". As for using picks on locks in use thats bull iv used bumpkeys on my own locks and they still work fine. My front doors not been damaged. Who are you to point the finger? I dont know why i even bother signing up to this website when you twist everything i say just because i do not have anything good to say about your good old friends at ukbumpkeys Maybe he should take a good look and find out how to run a business properly.

True, but you can never be too careful. Anyway, the reason we tell people not to pick locks in use is because if someone takes our advice and breaks something, it can cause a whole hoo-ha. The rules of locksport are simply that you 1. don't pick locks which don't belong to you and 2. don't pick anything without the owners permission... there isn't anything about locks being in use or not, but the general consensus is you stay away from them unless absolutely necessary. You can do whatever you want to your locks, in use or not - we just can't give you advice on how to pick them. You're more than welcome to pick the lock to remove it, since you lost your key. You don't seem to be getting anyhwere fast with the locks you have though, so you need to get a better idea of what you're doing before you go near it. Maybe when your picks arrive you'll have more luck... I'd say after a while you'll be able to pick those locks easy, so if you get locked out again by all means go for it. But for now, I really would recommend you just cut the thing off and leave the picking as a hobby until you get better at it.
