A clever person could feel up into the lock and glue or jam the plate in place, and prevent it from falling.

There are already working examples of anti-drill methods, ones that actually work.

Also, what's stopping the driller from drilling through the plate itself?
Why not just have the plate fixed in place so they can't drill through it?

no........the plate will lock down if drilled, and it drops into the key way and it is still in the area near the driver pins... so the plug wont turn

I would just drill under the plate where the shearline is and turn the cylinder while the drill bit is inside. So the idea doesn't work.

Not to discourage you but the things they have to drill with today are amazing. A carbide end mill in a die grinder will go through anti drill pins and such (as in Medeco) like a cobalt drill goes through brass.

Little offtopic, but I wouldn't use cobalt bits for anything, they are far too brittle and usually have too much helix angle so they dig in easily. (removed by mh, see next post)

Hi guys,

This forum section is dedicated to the design of a new lock (or many different new locks, if you want to :) )
Of course, securing this design against destructive entry is part of the game, and also discussing weaknesses of such design;
otherwise the new lock would be quite useless and based on obscurity like many others.

But - general discussion of the most effective destructive entry techniques for any type of lock is out of place here.

Thanks for your understanding.

Best

i think the best anti drill methods would be to angle hard pins/plates which makes it exceedingly difficult to hold a drill square. Ok youd get there in the end but youd have mullered most of the lock by then.

Not that id like to make my job any harder... the easier the better, Criminals dont use drills :-D
