Patenting/Selling a New Locksmith Tool?

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

I could really supply some input here but I'm not about to give up my ruse around here. I will suggest, however, not to deal with a company like Brockhage. Every time I see their booth at ALOA, I have a feeling that they're in the industryjust to make money. I wouldn't risk your idea, if it truly is something worthwhile, with people like that. If I were in your shoes, I would start by contacting more legitimate companies like MBA or HL Flake. Preferably, MBA because they patent and manufacture a good bit of their own tools. Mark's an outstanding person and if he sees potential in your tool then there's a good chance he'll take the necessary steps to ensure you both make a good bit of money off of it.

My 2 cents.

Would they treat you with the same respect and fairness for people like us as they would an individual trying to market a new invention that is a trading locksmith or someone in the security industry?
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Don't know for certain. Put simply, they're in business to make money. I can't help but think that if they see promise and potential in a product, they'll attempt to market and sell it regardless of the background of the inventor.

No one in the locksmith industry really thinks less of any of hobbyists/enthusiasts (aside from a few who feel threatened). Tobias, that's another story.
