So my friends and I were exploring one night and we came across this huge box of numbered sets of keys. Like 90-100 pairs of keys on little numbered tags. Curious, we explored around a bit more. There was a whole bunch of commercial door mechanisms/locksets. That was kind of neat. The point though is that I found a random single cylinder that had a key in it. I took it with me 'cause I thought it was neat. http://www1.speedyshare.com/data/242596 ... CN3788.JPGhttp://www1.speedyshare.com/data/371862 ... CN3782.JPGThere are no identifying marks of any sort, and I was just kind of curious if anyone could identify it.

So you and your friends were exploring by the cover of darkness and just so happened to find a bunch of locks????? This is called theft if it wasn't on your property, and possibly breaking and entering, and maybe criminal trespass.

I don't recognise the profile... can't tell what size it is from the pic so I'm not sure if it's from a padlock or a door cylinder either. Where did you find it exactly?

I think it is a Corbin cylinder, could go into a padlock or a doorlock, SFIC looks like to me.

We were in the building legally. It was a local theater troupe's building. I assume they got the locksets from some company replacing their system, for use as props. In that context, the cylinder wasn't doing any good. On top of that, it was in a storage area none of the board had been in for... a good number of years.
SFIC definitely looks like a good route of investigation.

Cool, as long as it's legal! It could also be a Falcon.

It is a Corbin interchangeable core. But it isn't a SFIC (small format interchangeable core). Though the back of the cylinder makes me want to think it is a SFIC, but the control sleeve is a dead giveaway.
The middle four pins can either be picked to the control sleeve or the regular shear line, the first and last pins only have one shear line. Have fun.

care to host photos to a "more normal" media sharer? I don't think many like having to download a file direct to view an image.. Well, I know I won't..

I use speedyshare exclusively for image hosting because it beats the pants off of every other free image hosting I've used, since spamtheweb has stopped hosting images.
@FarmerFreak: Thanks for the information!
