I'm jealous Rick, you always come across kickass locks. Good job getting it picked, standard tools I presume?

yeah my mate trains and has a shop and gets lots of cool tools and locks.

i picked it with a half diamond and a a short hook iv bent to use sideways, although you only need the hook for the really deep setting pins.

iv just borrowed a mul-t lock pin in pin padlock that no longer works from the key

The key works the main pins but then hits false set. I reckon one of the inner pins is stuck, just gotta find it and free it up then pick it :-)

I've always found the Garrison (the brass finish plug) to be a little more challenging than the Classic and even the Interactive. Wide open keyway with a lot of room to work with but it has like what, 7 rows of pins with a bunch of security drivers? But if you can pick those then the other Mul-T-Locks feels much easier to open.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

yes the garrisons are very hard 7 pin with 7 mushrooms.

pin in pin are much easier to pick, just a gimmick really

The plug finish is no indication to the model. For instance the classics can come in brass or nickle finish.

The warding is a good indication to the model. The padlock is an 05 but the most common model is the 06 (can see the inner ward on your 05 is slightly thinner than ure 06 euro, at least it looks to be an 06, the angle of the photo doesn't help)

There are a lot of wardings as I have learned bringing lots in as stock, I've even got a no ward MTL key :)

Anyway, the models you will see are:

Garisson
Integrator
Classic
Interactive
MT5
MT5+

They also do standard pin type tumblers, but I've not had none because they look very uninteresting.
What a load of old BiLocks!!!!

I'm probably 0 for 400 in looking for safes behind wall paintings

I have some of their standard pin tumbler locks... you are right... less than interesting...

I also have some pin in pin locks kik cylinders that use a regular key(not a dimple key)
but im not sure if they are mul-t because they are not labeled anywhere(that ive noticed) and sadly I dont have a key for them :(

On the silver ones the warding is a mirror image of the brass finish

Rick,

A full write-up of Mul-T-Lock telescoping (pin in pin) systems and their differences is available here:

http://www.lockpickingforensics.com/articles.php

The locks in the pictures above are all MTL Classic with 005 and 006 keyways.
