The BS trap pin challenge

Postby Rickthepick » 18 Dec 2009 6:51

quite cold today and got nothing on so im playing with a BS trap pinned cylinder.

Iv picked these open but never the full revolution so today i will go for the full 360 degress lol

This one has a helluva tight keyway... might not be able to pick it at all yet.... will see

This should be interesting! Apparently, the only real way to get past the trap pins is to impression the lock... from what I hear nobody has succeeded in using plug spinners or packing the keyway, not even picking the trap pins. Best of luck mate, I'll be following this thread closely.

i picked one of these when they first came out, you can pick the trap pins but it requires precise tension and a good strong hook.

This ones pretty tight and my hand is sore but im not beat yet

I just dont own a pick that can get those back pins up :( theyre both very high lift and in a brutally narrow keyway.

The initial 6 pins are hard to pick before it traps. Il see if i can make a pick that will have enough strength and flexibility to get those last two trap pins released

I saw this thread this morning, and for most of the day I've been wanting one to play with. As I've never played with trap pins before. I thought "I could order one, but then I would have to wait a while since they aren't common where I am."

So, what did I do. I tried my hand at making one.

The one I have obviously has a larger keyway with an easier to pick combination. I've managed to pick this one a full 360. But this one suffers from crappy tolerances and weaker springs.

It was a fun experiment. One day I'll get the real thing and see what it is like. Good luck with the one you've got, that last cut is a real killer.
