Is there such a thing as ~grey markey~ Abloys

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Is there such a thing as ~grey markey~ Abloys

Postby pingable » 22 Dec 2009 17:26

I see Abloy 362 / 342 crop up time to time on Ebay....relatively inexpensive price...

In this day and age, have any of ya'll ever seen/heard of a Fake Abloys out there ?

Go figure but we even had a high end Cisco equipment that apparently was registered to NASA. We found this out when we started having problems with the unit and called inside support only to find out it was *grey market*

Its on eBay, its meant to be cheap... usually. Might be from a collector trying to get rid of his stuff or a whole seller?

Well, those looks like Abloy Classics, not Protecs.

Those aren't classic, they're Abloy Profile (sometimes called High Profile). Why on earth man would you think you have imitation ABLOY... paranoid much?

At least Russians and Chinese have made copies of abloy classsic, but I haven´t seen any that say abloy on the side of the lock.
And if you´ve played with abloys, it´s easy to tell if its real.

Just because they're not protecs doesn't mean they aren't Abloy. Abloy did, in fact, make other locks before they made the Protec. They're the same high-quality locks. Not too much has changed.
