Is there such a tool for removing mortise cylinders

This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

Also I have seen a simple tool, like a C spanner...you drill two holes in the cylinder left and right of the keyway then wind the lock out..

Ali Bongo...no lock

or fixing screw and wasted lock case

Oxygen thieves the lot of them

it was really something to see.

you should remove the set screw from under the cover plate at the edge of the door.

This usually makes the unscrewing the cylinder easy enough to do with a keyblank.

Spin rings were designed for a reason......

A1 makes a mortise cylinder removal tool. It can be used to unscrew a cylinder when the grub screw is loosened or it can be used to break the grub scew. It is $37 from HLFlake and the item number in there catalog appears to be 16.

Hope that helps some.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
