Whats this Assa lock?

Removed a nice assa lock today, not sure what type. Its got a sidebar of some description.

I agree with Squelch. Good luck picking it. They are incredibly difficult. Actually if you don't have the key to show you the bitting, they are beyond difficult. I hope you are up to the challenge.

nah out of my league i dont get the practice these days and you lose the feel for it.

looks similar but in Scandinavian form but the profile looks reversed

literally spent 90 minutes on this lock today in the typical monk-like state of barely breathing and feeling every tiny movement in the lock....

and still no joy.

Had the tension spot on and i was certain it was about to click open...

So whos defeated this beast? I wish i had the key just to take a sneaky peak at the pin setup

It is incredibly hard to pick. Even the normal pins are super hard. The top pins are mushrooms that fit into a countermilling that's very hard to pick out of. I can only pick it with 4 pins and no sidebar. The sidebar is a different beast altogether. If the housing is the same as the one I have you should be able to dissemble it non-destructively to take a look at the pins and the sidebar code to help you on your quest. And even then, good luck

I've been trying to pick this mogul cylinder for a correctional facility we have at our shop, its an ASSA key almost just like that. But since its a correctional facility they don't let the keys leave the facility for obvious reasons so I have literally no idea how to pick the side pins. Roughly id say ive been picking in vein for about 10 hours off and on over the course of 2 weeks or so.

Twin drivers are so serrated they look almost like machine bolts. Those plus the counter-bores, mushroom key pins and active sidebar add up to one evil lock.

just out of interest, without going into too much detail to get me in trouble again...

would a strategically placed hole render the sidebar useless or are those pins held in by other means
