Master Lock 22

i got a master lock 22 warded. Just curious is there some sort of extra security feature on this. i can pick it so the level moves. but the lock wont pop open. I can assume that theres some sort of lever preventing it from popping open

There are two springs that need to be "expanded" One for each side of the shackle.

These are in reality some of the easiest least secure locks that exist if you have the right picks.

The picks for these are called "warded pics", and are shown at the top of the page in the "links" image.

yeah i know bout the picks, thats what im using. the problem is i can move one lever and not the other. Its pretty deep in there...

Try the "double" looking warded picks. This lock definately can be opened with them. Try pulling the pick out a bit and try again.

Ok, ok....I'm a newbie to picking, but I also have a Master #22 and a warded pick set - and I am ALSO having problems.

I've opened several other warded locks using this same pick set, but this little lock is giving me grief.

I've noticed that the width of the actual keys are somewhere in between the widths of the pick keys - would it be possible that the narrow pick series are missing the release mechanism (or isn't pushing it far enough) and/or the wider picks are getting hung up inside the release mechanism, preventing it from turning?

The long and short of it: is it completely unadvisable to file down some of the wider picks to bring them closer to the width of the actual keys?

You could try it, but I would be more inclined to file down a spare key, or a hacksaw blade to make a "custom" warded pick.

I would say that they are just about as hard to make as regular picks. The easiest way (IMO) is to use a grinder to grind the picks to the shape you want (thats how i do it). Or you could also spend a few hours using a metal file to file a pick into shape, this method can get rather annoying and tiring though.

What I've found with the master 22s: the tip on the end of your pick is too long. If you have the key to your 22, compare the end tips. The warded pick will be about 1 - 1.5mm too long. I was having the exact same problem as you. I filed down the end of my pick, and the lock popped right open.

I'm sure you already know, but the pick to use for the master #22 is the one to the far left.

im sorry but the one on the far left is not the pick I used for No. 22. I used the pick in the middle and it is more effective
