Postby nls777 » 9 Feb 2010 19:00

I know many people like me will be thinking can I be a locksmith in my city if i only have x number of people on av how many people are with in 30 minutes of your home city? I live in a city of 100,000 and 2 other citys with in 30 minute drive have 100,000 so 300,000 in total with 4 locksmith businesses and things are going ok how are every one elses numbers?
And I come with a hat full of tricks,
Trunk full of Faygo, car full of fat chicks.

In some places in the world, the "locksmith" density is so high, some working in the trade are getting
little or moderate business. By locksmiths I mean-- in some unregulated climates-- anyone who self-declares
himself a "locksmith" is one. Qualified and trained or not.

Some of the so-called locksmiths can do little more than drill open a lock, replace it with junk, and collect your money.

I believe in limited govenment intervention. But I don't think these dodgey guys should be trading as locksmiths,
maybe "handy men".

That's a good thought when deciding on whether to starting a business. Have you done a complete business plan yet? Just as if you were applying for a bank loan? It's an awful lot of hard work with a lot of risk of failure if you don;t plan, especially for contingencies. Maybe get started out of your house or van while you continue to work another job, then try to grow. You might also want to join a locksmith organization and go to the meetings to rub elbows, too. Make the investment now to save or make money later.
