Type of lock is this?

Postby nightman76 » 10 Feb 2010 22:45

Im trying to pick this lock and want to know the brand/type. I am a beginner. There is 6 slots but only 5 of them had springs in them seems weird. The logo on it is like a mountain.

So if anyone knows the name or a easy way to pick it thanks.

my eyes hurt from trying to view the photos. most digital cameras have a macro setting (usually a mountain icon) that allows a crisp focus at a relatively close distance.

You really need a better picture.

The Macro Icon is a flower not a mountain. The mountain is landscape mode.

Speaking of mountains, could the brand be...Mountain security? They make Kwikset knockoffs. See logo here: http://www.inewidea.com/db/76186793.html

Thats good thinking Legion. I was looking at the picture with a tech of mine and All we could think of is Everest, but Schlage is pretty good about slapping their name on everything heh. Good eye man.

I realized that after I wrote it... but there is no edit button, so I guess he'll have to figure that out himself.

It is an Olympus brand lock.

They make a lot of different cabinet locks. It isn't likely to have any kind of security pins. So just practice your single pin picking and you should be fine.

Ok, farmerfreak, your right! But what about that little check pin like hole on the cylinder in his picture? What is that thing?

I'm guessing that you are talking about the hole to the side in this picture.

If so, it isn't a check hole like the Everest. It is a screw hole (just a blurry picture), it holds the sleeve that slides over everything in place. He just didn't take a picture of the sleeve.

Olympus's site has blurry pictures too. You can barely make out the screw in this fully assemble lock. http://www.olympus-lock.com/n078.htm (it probably isn't exactly what nightman76 has)

Not so fast shaggy the mystery has not been solved. So now that I found out the type of lock and everything I was able to pick it. However, I would like to just use a master key like I used to open my drawer. I lost the key awhile ago and was wondering if its possible to have someone make me a new one. I hope they don't have to change the key because i have a few drawers with the same lock and will just use the key as a master.
