Well, I've been unpacking from my summer, and it seems that someone has nabbed my SoOrd 7 pin tubular pick. Of course I'm rather angry, but the fools left the Peterson Pro 1. I'm wondering if anyone has anything good/bad to say about the HPC pick. Should I bite it and get the HPC, or should I do the SO thing again?

I use a standard HPC 7 pin tubular with a great deal of success, I just don't get to use it that often. I've found the aluminum nice to work and the tension is applied by a threaded aluminum nut which tends to stay where ever you adjust it. A good tool, but they're rather specific and not really adaptable to other formats.

The rumor is that the small bore pick does standard 7 pin as well. Anyone have any experience?

I just sold my old SouthOrd non-adjustable pick (naturaly for twice what I bought it for) & I was looking for a new tubular pick.
I heard it worked on normal bore tubulars too. If I knew for certain it worked on them, I'd buy it. The reset feature is just too tempting.

The Quick Reset works on 7-pin center locks including the small bore size. The TLP-7SB features the Quick Reset button; just push the button and pump the barrel to reset the pick. The Quick Reset has an aluminum handle, stainless steel barrel, spring steel feelers and comes in a genuine leather case with the TKPD-1 decoder.
Straight from the HPC catalog.

Regarding HPC's quick reset tubular pick:
Just looking for what other's think. Is it it definetly an adjustable pick? I am just assuming that it is but HPC's site dosnt actually mention it is. http://hpcworld.com/lockhpc/p_tlp7sb.htm.
In essence, is the black part which on other picks is used to adjust the tension for this purpose or simply part of the mechanics of the reset action, Maybe I just being too paranoid.
