Postby Allabo » 17 Feb 2010 8:24

Hey guys, I've been lockpicking for a while and ive opened about 20-30 different types of padlocks but i want to get a new tool set because mine is of bad and abit worn out by now. I have been looking around for a few different types of sets and i've come down to those 3

If i were to get one of these sets which one should i get? i am not quite sure what i should be looking for. Do you guys have any recomendations? i am looking for a set in the price range for 30-50$ And if there is any help i live in sweden so i probably want picks designed to open locks in that area code.

I purchased the MPXS-20 set; I liked them quite a bit. Be advised, however, that the "rivets" will pop from the center piece of steel that serves as the handle and you may need to either spot weld it or wrap it in packing tape as I did.

I suggest you look for tools that feature stainless steel handles that are spot welded, not rivited.

Additionally, you may find a "slimline" or Euro style set more appropriate for northern Europe, as compared to the standard or American-- thicker and wider tang-- versions.

Try out different brands and handle styles your friends and acquaitances may have in their sets.

I'm not a huge SO fan either but their slimline picks are quite effective and has earned a permanent place in my pick case. And they're pretty inexpensive. 8)

I have some Southord slimlines and like them, however I also like the strength and less flex in some of the larger picks aimed at the American market.

I have the MPXS-62 set that will last me a long time. I don't know about other brands, but something tells me I would have the same luck with them that I've had with Southord.

I just recived the Southord slimlines And they are amazing. Love the flexability and the handle. A really improvement from my previous ones.
I really recommend them.
