Yeah thats been out for a couple years now I think. What I'm wondering is where can you get some of these bump stop master padlocks? When I was at a CA trade show a rep from Master Lock told me that the padlocks with this feature will not be sold in stores but will only be sold through independent locksmith shops. That was a total bummer to hear.

Dude thanks. I remember I actually had seen these posted on that site a couple years ago but totally forgot about it.

In case you wanted to know, the technique is known as "top gapping". There's a brief mention of it and other anti-bumping mechanisms at http://lockwiki.com/index.php/Bumping

I do not know about you guys, but when ever bump a lock, the bottom pins hit the top pins then form a gap. It does not fly up past the shear line, then gravity brings them back down causing the shear line. You can bump locks upside down.

I was actually thinking about bumping it upside down to defeat that, but wouldn't it not hit the key then? Bump keys are cut to the lowest position and have a little bit of the shoulder removed. If you flipped the lock upside down wouldn't that one pin fall "down" and not be hit by the key?
