This is the old Locksmith business info area and will be broken down to fill in the new sections below.

Yeah, 41 years and 3 generations. I guess I was just thinking about where some our consistent money was coming from but our name certainly has an effect on that, good point sir.

That tells me who you are! 8)

I was looking locksmith websites around the country to get ideas for mine, and I remember seeing 41 years 3 generations. Rings a bell, but I can't remember where.

Get a good business card well designed and dont F..in skimp. The home made cheap free printed yourself junk shows just that..Your too cheap or a handyman wannabe. Not accusing anyone...example.. Good way to turn potential clients like realestate agents and other businesses off by looking unprofessional. Market yourself as a professional and you will be treated like one. Have a min. 1000 decent biz cards made up. Give out 2 or 3 at a time EveryWHERE you go. Restaurants, hotels, gas stations, anywhere with locks ect. I get loads of work from cards i hand out. People will keep something that might be usefull later. Get a hat and shirts made up asap too. Even if you know what your doing you need to look %100 like you know what your doing. For the money your going to be charging people want professionals. If you cant afford yellow page type ads you can call them and request the free courtesy listings to get you started. It aint great but its free...Most all the Online lookups offer free biz listings also. Again dont skimp on the important stuff..but dont waste your money either..

cough cough- cheap, good quality business cards www.vistaprint.com or .ca ;)

Oh, and pay the "little extra" for glossy finish, and heavy paper stock, and rear "logo" delete.

Still cheapest place for business cards, by a long shot that I have ever found online, and in the real world.

vistaprint really are good. I juist dont like the way the site haggles with you when you just want to pay...

100 pens for an extra £30... add more business cards for 2p each.... aghh

Wanna know their "secret"?

Register your profile, make up your template, and goto checkout- and.. save your work. Log off.

Wait a week, than 2, and if you really can, about 3. You will keep getting discounts and "better" deals/offers in your email from them.

I now get about 1000 business cards for about.. 10 bucks- shipped.

I know it's been said, but apt buildings seem like a good idea, especially if they have a laundry room/multiple laundry rooms. I know when I'm doing the wash I tend to read every word on the wall out of boredom.

Local restaurants, gas stations, bars, etc- common lockout places, it is good to see if you can place cards.

If you have paid parking/ valet/ etc in your area, talk to the guys, tell them you'll shoot them a fiver whenever they refer a lockout to you.

One method I've heard used is to try to fulfill specific needs with companies- but it can be expensive. For instance- having the up to date keying capabilities (kits and what not) for a make of car, and going to those specific dealerships in your area and telling them you can do key work for them.
